In this section of the topic “Shooter Endurance,” we will discuss the ability to maintain accurate and effective fire under physical and psychological stress. You will learn why a standard range exercise does not guarantee success in combat conditions, and why a shooter’s mind must be prepared to engage targets while under stress, fatigue, and sleep and resource deprivation. We will examine how to train not only the body but also the nervous system in order to be ready for real combat. This episode is about developing the kind of endurance that distinguishes a true shooter.

7.1 Shooting endurance
In this episode, I talk about shooting endurance — the ability to maintain accurate and effective fire under both physical and psychological stress. You’ll discover why successfully completing a drill on a training range doesn't guarantee performance in real combat conditions. The shooter's mind must be conditioned to fire under fatigue, stress, and resource depletion. We’ll explore how to train not only the body but also the nervous system to prepare for real combat. This episode is about building the endurance that defines a true marksman.

7.2 “Endless Magazine” Drill
In this episode, the instructor demonstrates a preparatory drill from the shooting endurance block — the “Endless Magazine.” You will learn how to develop endurance, practice shoulder transitions, and manage breathing under sustained fire. The drill involves firing a 30-round magazine at a 25-meter A4 sheet target, switching shoulders with a full hand transition after each shot. The instructor explains two methods of transition: the “insertion” method and the muzzle-down transition, emphasizing the importance of choosing the method that fits your body and gear. The main goal is to refine mechanics while loading the stabilizing muscles — a critical step for longer and more demanding shooting exercises.

7.3 Squatter Drill
In this segment, the instructor presents a drill focused on developing static endurance, which is critical for maintaining accurate fire from seated, standing, or crouched positions. You will learn how to build a stable shooting platform by controlling your stabilizing muscles, breathing, and body posture during extended engagements. The instructor emphasizes that accuracy isn’t just about mechanics — it’s also about physical endurance in uncomfortable and unstable positions.

7.4 Arithmetic Drill
In this advanced training block, we focus on loading the shooter morally and cognitively. The “Arithmetic” drill combines movement, shooting, and basic mental tasks. The shooter performs directional steps, fires at designated targets, and processes numeric instructions to determine the order of fire. This exercise trains control, focus, precision, and endurance under stressful conditions.

7.5 roly poly drill
In the final drill of this episode — roly poly drill — we combine all previously acquired skills: sight alignment, trigger control, movement, rhythm, and decision-making under pressure. The shooter must engage each target with a specific number of hits within a limited time. This is more than just a test — it’s an intensive simulation of real combat, where not only technique but also instant decision-making is critical. The drill demands full composure, accuracy, and control.

7.6 traffic light drill
In the final drill of this episode, the instructor presents a benchmark shooting test — the "Traffic Light" or "Stone Drill". This exercise simulates combat stress through a combination of physical load, rapid movement, and decision-making under pressure. You'll learn how to test your shooting endurance, accuracy, and readiness to act in conditions close to real combat. The training includes firing from standing, kneeling, and prone positions at targets placed at various distances — all within a strict time frame.
